SOAK OFF GEL TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
|
PROBLEM
|
CAUSE
|
SOLUTION
|
| Lifting at the cuticle area only. |
Cuticle still present on the natural nail. This is
the number one cause of lifting. |
Be extra careful when using your pusher to remove cuticle. You can also use a buffer block in this area to help with bits too small for the eye to see. |
| Lifting of the entire overlay. It is coming off the
entire nail. |
Oils or contaminants are still present on the nail
plate prior to application |
*Stay away from soaps with moisturisers in your
bathroom. *Be sure and wash after using our Soak Off Solution to
remove the moisturiser. *Always use the Finishing Wipe and primer
prior to application to help with problem adhesion. |
| My application is only lasting two weeks and I would
like it to last longer. |
Preparation of the nails was not intensive enough. |
Use a 180 grit file or buffer to prepare the nail
plate and apply a coat of primer to the nails. |
| My application is lasting too long and my clients
are not returning as often as they were. |
Preparation of the nails was too intensive. |
Do not use Primer. |
| My dark colour Soak Off Gel is going on transparent. |
Pigment has settled. |
You should always use a Birchwood Stick to stir your
Soak Off Gels right before you use them. |
| My Tip Overlays are way too weak. |
Nails are too thin OR the free-edges are way too
long. |
*Apply more coats of gel for problem clients. *The
correct length ratio is 2/3 nail bed to 1/3 free-edge. If you go any
longer you risk problems. |
| My Sculptured Nails are way to flexible. |
Sculpting free-edge. |
It is recommended to use tips for added length. You
can do corners or sculptured repairs. However, sculpting with Soak
Off Gels creates a nail that is too flexible. |
| My Client's Nails are discoloured. |
Applying Colour gel directly on to the nail. |
You must use the clear soak off gel prior to colour
gel application. This will protect the nail as well as help them
soak off. |
| My Colour Soak Off Gel doesn't look like the colour
it is supposed to be. |
Colour Application is too thin. |
You must apply two thin coats of colour. If your
colour is still off, your two coats may be too thin. |
| My free-edges are too thick. |
Knifing off gel techniques made for other
manufacturer's gels. |
Apply our formula just like polishing a nail. |
| My free-edges are too thin. |
First coat of colour crept back before you went into
the Light. |
After you apply five nails and BEFORE you go into
the light…brush over the free-edges and go directly into the light. |
| My Black Soak Off Gel isn't quite Black. |
Pigment Settled or coats are too thin. |
Be sure and stir Darker Colours extra carefully.
Some dark colours may require 3 coats of application to get the true
colour. |
| My nails are soft and squishy. |
Improper cure, under cured or application is too
thick. |
You must use a 9 Watt UV Light with these gels. Be
sure to change your bulbs every 4 months. Colour Soak Off Gels must
be cured for 3 minutes. And never do thick messy coats. Keep them
thin. |
| My nails are not coming out shiny. |
Nails are Under Cured OR improperly wiped. |
When removing the induction (sticky) layer, be sure
to use one Lint free Wipe PER nail. If you use the same wipe on
several nails you will not get shiny nails. |
| My nails won't soak off in the amount of time you
said they would. |
Use of another manufacture's products, improper base
coat, improper over coat. |
You must use our base gel on the nail to get the
proper "release". Also, using products like Kapping Sealer or UV Gel
Sealer which do not remove with Acetone, will block and prevent the
Soak Off Solution from doing it's job. |
| When my client returns for a fill her nails look
dirty and discoloured. |
The Soak Off Gel was not sealed or protected. |
You should always use a Top Coat to Seal and Protect
your Soak Off Gels from environmental damage. Remember, these
are more porous. |
| When I remove the induction (sticky) layer I see
colour on my wipes (when using Colour gel). |
Under Cure OR Normal appearance. |
A normal colour gel will still have pigment in the
induction layer. However, if you see that you're removing thickness,
your light or bulbs may be having problems. |
| My Soak Off Gel has touched the skin
surrounding the nail. |
Improper application, coats are too thick and
gravity is self levelling or sidewalls are not being pulled back
while applying your gel. |
Always use a wood stick to remove any
gel that comes in contact with the skin during application PRIOR to
curing in the UV Light. |
| I can't get the gel off the nail after soaking for
5-10 minutes. |
Removal tool is too blunt. |
Because the gel has a soft surface, if you try to
scrap with a dull tool (like a wood stick) you will not be able to
get into the layer and scrape the released pieces off. Use a proper
soak off tool. |
